Ed Jones
Ed Jones comes from Aberdeen where the dulcet tones of a counter-tenor inspired him to join a choir, and a pint bought for him by a priest encouraged him to learn the organ at a small church. A small biographical leap then found him as Assistant Organist to St Andrew’s Cathedral. He then moved south in search of the kingdom of El Dorado but stopped temporarily in Blackburn, Exeter, Belfast and Bradford. He now lives in North Leeds, in the flight path of LBA.
Having had posts directing and playing in a number of cathedrals in England, he has now diverted to a career in finance, but with a great deal of music in evenings and on weekends - choirs, ensembles, choral societies, and individual tuition. Living on the outskirts of Leeds, he continues to add another element to his multicultural accent but he is rather embarrassed to say he has failed in adhering to Yorkshire law by not liking a cup of tea.
Ed’s PhD was in choral composition, and studied with Prof. Paul Mealor and Prof. Phillip Cooke. He still composes when he finds time, usually liturgical choral music but most recently has finished a tasteless arrangement of “Little Donkey” recorded by the choir of Bradford Cathedral and the Black Dyke Band.
Besides this host of music, he sometimes finds time to be a full time Financial Adviser. His areas of expertise span from Investments and Pensions, insurance and financial protection, mortgages, and holistic financial planning.
Besides his musical and finance life, Ed is a keen runner, has a small ridiculous convertible car, and likes curry and beer. His most recent achievement of worthy note is the ability to complete a Rubik’s cube in fewer than 60 seconds.

"Ed is an exceptional talent. We're delighted to welcome him to the Nidderdale Messiah family"
