Cassian Southwick is a fantastic musician who is a very fine organist having been an organ scholar for two cathedrals. He works as a technical engineer for Viscount Organs. His multi-instrumentalist talents stretch to percussion and he will be playing timpani in his first ever Nidderdale Messiah.

Having said all that whilst the timpani part is a vital part of several key chorus' it remains one of the least fulfilling in terms of activity. So Cassian's appearance on timpani probably mkes him the most over-qualified person ever to take on the non-challenge of playing timpani for which we are extremely grateful!
