Beth Harby - Trumpet

Beth Harby is an 18-year-old trumpet player who lives in Harrogate and studies trumpet and piano at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. Here, she studies under the renowned trumpeters Tracey Redfern and David Chatterton. Chetham’s has given her the opportunity to perform regularly as a soloist, in ensembles, and in orchestra. Recent performances include Belshazzar’s Feast, Rite of spring, Neruda trumpet Concerto and Pennequins Morceau de Concert.

She grew up playing in Lions youth brass band and Fodens youth band, as well as in music service ensembles. This is where she found her love for music. She keeps up her brass banding by regularly playing for the Knaresborough Silver Band.

She has also been a part of many youth projects outside of school, including playing Sibelius symphony No.2 with Opera North Youth Orchestra, and more recently playing trumpet for the British Youth Music Theatre production of Harry and Greta. She is also looking forward to playing alongside BBC symphony orchestra in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier Suits, as part of the AYM rewards scheme.

Beth hopes to take her music further by studying music at conservatoire and is hopeful to create a career for herself in the music industry.

Beth is very grateful to Harrogate Rotary Club for supporting her today by donating money to help her buy a trumpet.
